Due to expansion my client, an international trading company are seeking an experience Compliance Manager to join their busy London Office. This is a standalone role with genuine scope to develop into being a Head of Department role.

Reporting to the Deputy Managing Director, you will assist with Compliance and data Protection monitoring in various business areas and provide compliance and advice to business units, whilst mitigating regulatory risks across the business and promoting a proactive compliance culture.

You have a good understanding on how to deal with banks and any related compliance/AML/KYC requests. This is the perfect role for someone with a background in compliance to really make the position their own and grow with the business as they continue to expand.

DUTIES:

  • Assist with the delivery of regulatory change projects and other compliance initiatives when required
  • Maintaining Compliance Training Program at the business. This involves developing and delivering training packages to staff under direction of the management
  • Interpret and disseminate information about regulatory changes and adapt procedures, documents and compliance tools to accommodate these rule changes
  • Take responsibility for designing, producing and managing compliance processes and management information or providing advice to specific business areas
  • Aware of latest system and tools for compliance/KYC/AML, Anti-Slavery and Tax Strategy statements and processes
  • Define strategy and develop policy to ensure robust arrangements for compliance with the Financial Services (Jersey) Law 1998, Orders (issued under the Law) and the codes
  • Suggesting appropriate planning strategies for clients and ensuring that the firm’s position is considered
  • Running a background checks on new business partners
  • Organise and update all files of all shareholders on a regular basis
  • Prepare all related documents when opening a new bank account and update the accounts on a regular basis
  • You will lead the delivery of an effective risk-based compliance monitoring programme, ensure oversight of outsourced arrangements play a lead role in embedding a compliance culture across the business; and proactively drive through regulatory change.

EXPERIENCE:

  • An experienced compliance candidate with strong buy side experience
  • Knowledge in different jurisdictions, holding companies, and other tax structures is an advantage
  • Ideally educated to degree level and holding a relevant compliance or legal qualification would be desirable
  • In depth knowledge of and experience in Family office would be an added bonus
  • The ability to combine "soft" influencing, persuasion and consultancy skills with an ability to encourage business leaders to positively respond to questions, requests and challenges
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of working with people at all levels within and external to the business
  • Experience of dealing with regulatory bodies and government audit management
  • Good understanding of international trade terms and conditions.
