One of the UKs largest Independent oil and gas companies, are looking to recruit a Crude Operations Analyst to join the team based in their London office.
Responsibilities –
Analyst
- Under guidance from the Crude Marketing/ Trading team, post holder will develop and maintain routine market analysis.
- Review and summarise oil/ NGL market news flow, vessel tracking, and pricing data.
- Ensure high level of data quality through collection, processing and analysis of crude oil market data.
- Market/ department data ownership, verification and reporting, including tracking specific trends occurring in the major commodities markets.
- In addition, you will be working on various projects to develop new features and continuously improve data quality.
- Provide market analysis ad hoc as required by Marketing and Trading team, including assisting with fast-response analysis to ad-hoc requests from clients and real-time market events.
- Checking data to ensure reliability and accuracy of data.
- Assist the team to extract meaningful patterns and detect trends.
- Perform specific, in-depth analyses to continuously improve our product and data quality.
Crude Operations
- For designated assets, co-ordinate crude oil and NGL nominations and liftings in accordance with terminal requirements, offtake/ sales contracts and crude oil marketing policy, requiring frequent communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strictly meet the timing requirements in the operation procedures to ensure smooth liftings and timely receipt of payments.
- Assume responsibility, in conjunction with the operations team, for (post-deal confirmation) management of contracts and sales orders through the life of such contracts. Including payment quantity, price calculations and invoicing instructions.
- As required, liaise with Marketing, Contracts, Shipping, Treasury, and HCA where required on KYC/ Counterparty approvals, credit exposure monitoring, demurrage/ claims etc.
- Contribute to the functional activities of the Marketing Function.
- In the near term, assist in post-merger system integration.
- Assist with ad hoc internal stakeholder requests (Treasury, Audit, Planning and Economics, HSEQ).
- Support wider operations team where required including holiday cover.
- Any other reasonable duty as per instruction by your manager.
Experience required –
- Relevant degree qualified professional.
- Two year of relevant experience preferably in lifting operations.
- Analytics experience (commodities preferred).
- Experience working with large, disparate and/or unstructured data sets (advanced Excel and SQL skills).
- Strong numerical (and MS Excel) skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical ability, at ease with working with databases, ability to highlight trends and use complex data to support decisions.
- Python or other (nice to have).
- Communication skills (both written and verbal).
- IT literate (including the ability to maintain complicated Excel tools).
- Resilient under pressure and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
