BACKGROUND

We are a global trading and investment company with a strong presence in metals markets.

The Mineral Resources Division in London is active in:

  • Non-ferrous metals (aluminium, copper, etc.)
  • Ferrous metals (iron ore, coal, etc.)
  • Precious metals (gold, silver, platinum group metals)

This role sits within the Precious Metals Dept as part of a team of 8 staff covering marketing, trading, settlement, logistics, and market information services.

JOB SUMMARY

This is a marketing position focused on developing and maintaining customer relationships in the precious metals sector, with contribution to divisional P&L as part of the remit.

Marketing

  • Maintain and expand business with assigned customers in the precious metals market.
  • Develop new business opportunities in line with department strategy.

Trading

  • Provide back-up trading coverage in limited circumstances when required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

80% – Marketing and Business Development

  • Maintain and grow customer-related business in precious metals, primarily in the EMEA region, with potential to cover other regions as agreed with management.
  • Manage an assigned portfolio of customer accounts as primary marketer.
  • Provide back-up marketing support for other accounts when required.
  • Identify new customers and business opportunities in line with the department’s strategic plan.
  • Exercise sound judgement in decision-making on business matters.

5% – Trading Support

  • Support senior traders and provide cover when required.

5% – Operations and Administration

  • Ensure all customer business is booked correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with traders and middle/back office teams to ensure proper risk management, liquidity management, and efficient administration.

5% – Data and Analysis

  • Support and guide junior staff in maintaining customer databases and market analysis tools.

5% – Teamwork and Compliance

  • Collaborate closely with other precious metals desks across global offices, sharing market information and ideas.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal control standards.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Strong knowledge of the precious metals market, including leasing, swaps, and physical business in gold, silver, and PGMs.
  • Proven marketing and deal-making skills.
  • Track record of closing deals and generating new business opportunities.
  • Strong team player within immediate team and wider trading functions.
  • Able to perform under pressure with high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Capable of expressing differing views diplomatically.

Monday to Friday, 07:30 – 15:30 with flexibility
