A leading Global Energy Trading company with offices based in the West End of London are expanding the LNG team with the appointment of a newly created LNG Trading & Operations Analyst role.

The candidate will support spot traders’ decision-making process by assessing viability of trading opportunities with a particular focus on portfolio optimisation (global book value, shipping and logistics). He/she will also be involved in the implementation of cargo deliveries being FOB or DES in its/her role of LNG Commercial Operator

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Trading Analytics: General commercial support to Trader and Structurer (i.e. Perform pre and post-deal analysis and reconciliation on P&L; against pre-deal economics and assumptions. Support in tender submission processes (pricing, view, pre-hedge tactics). Conduct market research through collections of market data, intelligence gathering, and in-depth analysis on various regional energy markets to produce regular update to management, origination & trading. Develop/maintain curve model.

PORTFOLIO

Evaluate spot LNG trading/chartering opportunities and strip deals by utilising existing optimization tools to generate the economic value and optimal cargo of LNG purchase and LNG sales. Validate view of trades, shipping, exposures, inventory via scenario modelling and analysis, including pricing, long/short, operational issues, mark to market. Maintain and transition the optimization model between the Trading & Optimisation teams in London and Singapore. Ensure effective communication across all related functions to ensure deliverability and implementation of the cargoes optimisation.

ESSENTIAL

Strong analytical and quantitative skills: ability to manage and organize amounts of complex data. Established background within physical commodity markets dynamics and current projects, including natgas; Professional verbal and written English language skills with excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills. An ability to communicate well at all levels of an organisation. Experienced with excellent knowledge of the LNG business value chain. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy with strong analytical, problem solving abilities. Good understanding of risk management principles; Strong acumen and driven by value creation. Good communication skills with good command over written and spoken English. Stress resilient, ability to work under pressure and in a rapidly changing environment, across multiple time-zones. Highly motivated, innovative and flexible. Strong team playerable to collaborate efficiently and smoothly with other team members and proven ability to work under limited supervision.
